grandeur. Warrior kings, poets, musicians and saints contributed in making
Gwalior the city it is. History : Gwalior's history is traced
back to a legend in 8th century AD when Suraj Sen was struck by a deadly disease
and was cured by a saint Gwalipa. As a gratitude, he founded this city by his
name, Gwalior which became the cradle of great dynasties. Gwalior was the place
which was most affected during the Revolt of 1857. It was one of the centers
which experienced fierce encounters between the British and the 'Rebels'. Each
era and rulers left their impression on this city but what remained unchanged
was the imposing fort which withstood any assault on Gwalior. Gwalior Fort, Gujari Mahal, Man Mandir Palace, Tansen's Tomb, Sun Temple, Gwalior Zoo, Jai Vilaas Palace, Sarod Ghar Museum of Music.
